Pencil-cost operation

The beginning of the school year is always a special and exciting time for students. By helping young people in difficulty obtain essential school supplies, we help them regain their self-confidence while stimulating their desire to learn and hope to succeed.

The pencil-cost operation program has been in place in Laval for over 20 years. We are involved in elementary and high schools with children who are referred to us by school professionals (teachers, supervisors, social workers, administrators). Some children are also referred to us by community-based organizations or come directly from our emergency food-aid service.

The impact of inflation has forced many families to apply for school supplies.
Last year, 1,196 children received a school bag, a lunch box, and a gift card worth $40, and a team of 19 volunteers contributed to this project.
