What is the Carte proximité ?

The “carte proximité” is a food voucher program led by the Centre de Bénévolat et Moisson Laval (CBML). It can be used to purchase food from merchants participating in the program. These service points are committed to local sourcing and have a collaborative agreement with the Centre de Bénévolat et Moisson Laval. Local grocery stores, markets, farm stands—all types of merchants can participate. With the Carte proximité, we improve access to healthy, local food for everyone while supporting short supply chains. That is why we call it a “farmer-focused and solidarity-based” initiative.

What does it involve to accept the “Carte proximité” as a form of payment?

• Sign a collaboration agreement with the Centre de Bénévolat et Moisson Laval and provide a voided check.
• Receive monthly payments: A transfer will be made to your account during the first days of each month, equivalent to the total amount of “Carte proximité” transactions from the previous month.
• Create an account and use the Tomat platform (it’s incredibly simple!). The Proximity Card is a prepaid plastic card. The transaction platform can be used on a cell phone, tablet, or computer with a camera by scanning the QR code on the back of the card.

Key Program Information

• The seasonal program runs from July 1st to October 31st each year.
• Participating households hold a Carte proximité that is reloaded on the 1st of every month (the amount varies based on the size of the household).
• The Proximity Card can only be used within our partner network.
