When inspiration and transformation meet the magic of the holiday season

The 41st Christmas Basket Campaign of the Centre de bénévolat et Moisson Laval (CBML) was far more than a simple distribution of holiday baskets. It represented months of strategic planning, meticulous coordination, teamwork at its highest level, and above all, a powerful reminder of everything we can accomplish when a community unites around a common cause.

Our greatest strength: people

Behind every basket delivered were dozens of dedicated hands. Our volunteers—the heart of our organization—answered the call from the very beginning. Months before December, we launched a large-scale mobilization to form key teams: receiving, sorting, logistics, distribution… not to mention the wonderful creative team responsible for wrapping gifts with care and generosity. Their energy and commitment made this 41st edition one of the most remarkable in the organization’s history.

Media Food Drive: when the city shows up

December 4 marked the first major milestone. For an entire day, 22 collection points were set up across the city, mobilizing corporate volunteers, centre volunteers, strategic partners, firefighters, police officers, allies, and CBML staff. An entire city united for one cause.

For its 25th edition, the Media Food Drive surpassed the previous year’s results. Thanks to collective generosity, we raised $152,365—funds that will allow us to continue supporting Laval families in 2026. The cold was intense, but solidarity was even stronger. We didn’t just reach our goal—we greatly exceeded it.

More than 3,000 baskets of hope delivered to Laval homes

In one intense weekend of preparation, our team transformed the warehouse into a true center of hope. For the first time in our history, we distributed more than 3,000 Christmas baskets filled with food items, essential goods, hygiene products, and gifts for children and babies. But we delivered more than baskets.

We delivered:

  • more than 3,000 smiles

  • more than 3,000 moments of relief

  • more than 3,000 opportunities for families to celebrate with dignity

This record reflects something greater: a collective commitment to those who need it most.

Gift wrapping: small gestures, great impact

Another tradition we are especially proud of is our gift-wrapping activity carried out in collaboration with long-standing partners such as Carrefour Laval and Centre Laval.

In addition to raising funds, this initiative adds a warm, human touch to every present. Hundreds of gifts were carefully wrapped by our volunteers, proving that every detail matters when it comes to making someone feel special.

Thanks to this valuable commitment, the Centre de bénévolat et Moisson Laval raised $27,915. This generosity allows us to continue our work and fulfill our mission: ensuring the fair redistribution of food to organizations and individuals, while also developing, supporting, and promoting volunteerism and community mutual aid.

An exceptional campaign

More than 3,000 families supported, committed businesses, thousands of mobilized volunteers, and a major impact across the Laval community. The synergy between community organizations, the public and private sectors, authorities, and citizens was the key to success.

After 41 campaigns, one conviction remains:

Solidarity is not an isolated gesture—it is a culture built year after year. In 2026, we will once again demonstrate that when a community unites, the impact is extraordinary. Because together, we transform and build hope.
